BAMBO
An industrial design exploration grounded in material character, balance, and a light visual presence.
01 / OVERVIEW
Bambo is an espresso machine developed through an AI-assisted design process, inspired by the natural structure of two intersecting bamboo stems. The design translates this organic relationship into a sculptural, compact form, combining two rounded volumes into a distinctive yet functional coffee machine.
The entire design process was based on hand-made sketches. AI was used as a controlled tool for visualization and design exploration, while the direction, selection and development of the design remained fully under my control throughout the process. This allowed me to rapidly explore variations while keeping the original design intent rooted in my own sketches and ideas.

Inspired by Nature.
The final Bambo design combines a cylindrical main body with a perpendicular front volume, creating the visual impression of two bamboo stems penetrating and growing through one another. Soft transitions and continuous curves give the machine a calm, monolithic appearance, while the contrasting metal details add precision and highlight its functional elements.
The result is an espresso machine that deliberately moves away from the conventional visual language of kitchen appliances. Its compact footprint, sculptural silhouette and reduced detailing make it feel more like an object of interior design than a purely functional appliance.
